The “Spring Energy Gap”
Why You Might Feel Tired When Everything Says You Should Feel Energised
Spring 2026
So many of my clients expect to feel instantly energised in spring. The sun appears, flowers bloom, and suddenly there’s pressure to feel motivated, productive and outdoorsy. They often come to me asking why they don’t “feel that energy”.
But the truth is many people feel exhausted when spring arrives, why is this?
Your body has spent months in a slower winter rhythm: shorter days, heavier foods, more sleep, and less stimulation. When daylight suddenly increases, your internal clock shifts. Hormones adjust, sleep patterns change and your body begins recalibrating.
That transition can feel surprisingly draining and takes time to adjust.
Think of it like moving house. Even when the new place is exciting, the process of packing and unpacking and sorting everything into new places takes energy.
I always tell my clients who feel like this that instead of forcing a sudden burst of productivity, spring can be a really powerful time to support your body through transition.
Here are three gentle ways to do that:
1. Stabilise your mornings
More daylight can make sleep feel lighter. Prioritise consistent wake times and get natural light early in the day to help reset your circadian rhythm. Really take advantage of the brighter earlier mornings.
2. Eat for steadiness, not detox
Spring is often marketed as a time for extreme cleanses, but your body is adjusting so be kind to it. Focus instead on balanced meals with high protein and fibre (especially in the morning) and colourful vegetables to support energy, always looking for seasonal produce.
3. Pace your motivation
You don’t need to suddenly become the person who wakes at 5am and runs every morning. Sustainable energy builds gradually. Start with the small habits and don’t move on until it really has become part of your daily being without you even realising.
Spring isn’t about flipping a switch. It’s about transitioning from winter mode into a new rhythm and giving your body the time it needs to get there.
You could also think about what worked for you during the winter months, slower pace, earlier to bed, quieter diary, if it made you feel good, stick with it!
Ease into Spring slowly and enjoy brighter, longer days with all its beauty, it wont take your body long before you really reap the benefits of a true Spring season.

Get ready for Autumn
How to move and nourish your body so you can stay strong for the winter months
Autumn 2025
I think there is something so beautiful about Autumn with its vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow. The days shorten, the air sharpens, and the scent of fallen leaves provides me with a renewed sense of energy together with tranquillity. For me it’s a season to nourish your body and support your health so you feel energised and balanced throughout the colder months.
From a health perspective, I have always found Autumn a great season for well-being. The moderate temperatures make it an ideal time for outdoor activities and the abundance of delicious seasonal foods keeps your gut healthy .
Lets look at movement first, as you all know by now this is one of the equally important four pillars of health. Staying active is crucial for maintaining strength and immunity during these cooler months. With the temperatures dropping its ideal to take your workout outside especially if you found the summer months too hot to do strenuous activities, this is the best time. Try incorporating a mix of things such as cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises into your routine and try to do them outside. If you only have 20/30 minutes that’s great and benefits the body just as much as a 60min work out.
Always remember the “non-exercise” moves at home and in the office are just as crucial as your classes. The small 10 minute walks round the block; standing up and touching your toes; using the stairs; having a stretch; walking around the house or garden ….. just keep moving. Even if you have already done a class or are going to one at the end of the day, its all these other activities which are so important for your general health and will help to keep you strong as we enter the colder months.
Autumn is a time to dress in layers. The weather can be unpredictable in autumn, so it’s important to be prepared for both cool mornings, warmer afternoons and of course at any time a bit of rain! Dressing in layers allows you to easily adjust your clothing as needed.
Now the temperature is dropping it’s important to spend a little extra time warming up your muscles before starting your workout and longer walks. This can help prevent injuries and improve your overall performance.
Above all take advantage of the scenery, Autumn is a beautiful time of year, so remember to look up when exercising in nature and be grateful for the beautiful colours around you.
Then there is the abundance of fresh seasonal produce like apples, pears, pumpkins, squash and spring onions to provide us with nutritious foods full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to boost our immune system and keep us healthy as we enter the colder months of winter. Don’t forget the fabulous mushrooms that might help boost your Vitamin D levels as the hours of sunlight get shorter.
We also need to start moving away from our raw cold meals like salads and start thinking of delicious dishes that are a bit more warming for our bodies to adjust to the temperatures slowly dropping So think:
- Butternut squash soup
- Baked sweet potatoes with toppings like black beans, avocado, and salsa
- Lentil and vegetable stew
- Spaghetti squash with garlic and tomatoe sauce
- Mushroom and barley soup
- Miso salmon on a bed of warm samphire
- Baked Pears with cinnamon and cloves
Now the days are getting shorter and nights longer there is an advantage here for those who struggle with sleep. The earlier onset of darkness in the evenings can help regulate our sleep patterns by triggering the production of melatonin earlier, which can improve overall well-being.
As with all seasons listen to your body and take care of yourself.
So lets all embrace this beautiful season of Autumn together and keep an eye on my Instagram for more tips and inspiration to help you thrive this Autumn.

Spring my favourite energy inspiring season
April 2025
Hey there, health warriors! As the vibrant energy of spring, is well on its way I totally begin to embrace that new energetic feeling. I always find this season is all about renewal, growth, and blooming into my best self. So I thought I would tell you about a few of the habits I start off in Spring that see me through till the end of Summer. I hope this helps you all to step well and truly into spring with a spring in your step!
Embrace the Power of Fresh Produce: Say goodbye to heavy comfort foods and hello to the bounty of spring fruits and vegetables. This is a real turning point for me when it comes to getting more natural vitamins and minerals into my body. Load up on leafy greens, juicy berries, artichoke and crisp asparagus to nourish your body with the healthy foods it craves and deserves preparing you for the summer ahead.
Get Moving Outdoors: Start taking your workouts outside whenever possible. I find I walk for much longer and often twice a day now the late afternoons and early evenings are so bright and warm. Whether it’s a brisk walk in the park, a 30 min HIIT on line class or a yoga session, soak up the fresh air and vitamin D while moving to boost your mood and energy levels.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: We all know how it’s crucial to stay hydrated. Always keep a water bottle by your side and sip throughout the day to support your body’s natural detoxification processes and keep your skin glowing. I find my body needs more water currently and therefore its easier to stay hydrated.
Self-care: Spring is the perfect time to renew your commitment to self-care. I love early mornings in Spring – I can sip my morning hot water with lemon outside, looking up at the sky and doing some mindful breathing. Try it – it sets you up for the day (and believe it or not can help with your sleep!) Whatever your self care is ….. yoga, meditation, sitting reading a good book or simply taking a few moments each day to breathe deeply – always prioritize your mental and emotional well-being.
Cleanse and Detoxify: I love nothing more than a good spring clean around my house when the sun is shining – which then clears my head for a good Spring clean of my body too! A gentle detox to rid myself of any lingering toxins, boosts my energy levels. I Incorporate cleansing foods like lemon water, green tea, fennel and detoxifying herbs like coriander (you either love it or hate it) green soups and detox salads into my daily routine.
Embrace Balance: Remember that health is about finding balance in all aspects of your life. I have always lived by having balance in my life. I never deprive myself of anything. Listen to your body, honour your needs, and make choices that support your overall well-being.
Let’s make this season your healthiest and happiest yet! Small changes you make today, make for lasting healthier habits throughout the year.
